Tableau and Google BigQuery

We can access Google BigQuery natively with Tableau. This allows us to tap into sample datasets in Google BigQuery quickly.

For example, table natality consists of 137,000,000 rows. According to Google BigQuery, the sample table can be used to predict the birth weight of a child based on the baby's gender, the length of the pregnancy, and demographic information about the mother.

The natality sample table contains information about every birth in the United States over a 40 year period.

If you're a Tableau user, this is really cool.

Obviously, you need a Google Cloud account which is free for a certain amount of requests. Here I connect Tableau with Google BigQuery:

How else can you access 130,000,000 rows that quickly? Franco Arda
